Located in the heart of Grenoble, between the Jardin des Plantes and Parc Paul-Mistral, the project gives new life to a heritage building that had remained unused for many years. The intervention preserves the identity and spatial qualities of the former orangery while introducing a new programme centred around sport, food and social interaction.

The building now houses a two-level bouldering gym, with a bar and restaurant opening directly onto the climbing areas. A mezzanine and a Spray Wall extend the training facilities, while the dining and lounge spaces create a continuous relationship between climbing and social life.

The design builds upon the existing qualities of the orangery: its generous volume, exposed structural elements and extensive glazed façades, which establish a strong connection with the surrounding garden and bring abundant natural light deep into the building.

The project explores how different uses, rhythms and atmospheres can coexist within a historic structure while preserving its architectural character. Rather than treating the existing building as a constraint, the project uses its spatial qualities as the foundation for a new identity.

Climbing becomes a contemporary use of the heritage building, bringing together sport, hospitality and social interaction within a shared architectural setting.
